Linux Kernel 2.6.22 Released

Linux kernel 2.6.22 has been released. This version is claimed to be more cleaner and tighter. The new features in this release include new and much better wireless and FireWire stacks, LVM (Logical Volume Management) for flash storage devices, improvements to TCP/IP networking congestion, IPV6 Optimistic Duplicate Address Detection, relocatable x86-64 kernel support, various new drivers and many other improvements.

Linux is one of the key factors behind the embrace of open sources and probably the most successful open source project. The model adopted tough is far more different to other close contenders in open source space such as Apache httpd. Though community driven, Linus Torvalds has a very tight grip on the project and how and when things are done. In a way that is good, but that model is far more different to what I am used to at Apache.
