After nearly three years of effort, WSO2 WSF/PHP 2.0 is here. We did many releases leading up to this major milestone in the life of WSF/PHP.
One of the initial goals of the effort on Apache Axis2/C was the ability to be able to embed that to any other C based system. It was Sanjiva who first suggested that we try this ability to embed Axis2/C with PHP. So we did. And it was Nabeel who first started this effort, who is now at Perdue pursuing his higher studies. And then Nandika took over.
After lots of struggle, hacking and debugging, we managed to get it to work. Nandika and I did a considerable amount of development during the initial stages and gradually Nandika took over, with Buddhika. Chinthana helped time to time and later Dimuthu too joined the party and did a wonderful job with wsdl2php.
Given the fact that WSF/PHP is based on Apache Axis2/C, anyone who contributed to Axis2/C and related projects have done great contributions to WSF/PHP. I cannot mention all names here, because it will be too lengthy. But I must mention few like Kaushalye and Manjula for WS-Security from Ramprat/C, Damitha for WS-RM from Sandesha2/C and Sanjaya for playing the master builder role in so many occasions.
I must also mention all the great users, who gave us valuable feedback over the years.
To say the least, WSO2 WSF/PHP has been a true team effort, and an effort which has been very successful. I am so proud to be part of such a great team, that did wonders and created history by bringing WS-Security and WS-RM to the fingertips of PHP developers. I would like to congratulate each and every one of this team, for this remarkable achievement, on this release of the most comprehensive PHP Web services framework ever.
