We are so developed. But nature is still having its say when it wants to, and we are sleeping on the ground helpless.
So the gods are angry or the plates slipped, whichever way you want to think about it, for better, not for worse.
We are so connected now, we can travel from one country to another within hours, yet, the volcanic ash cloud over Europe is stopping us from doing so.
We the human race, in 2010, still helpless against mother nature.
And it seems, nature is actually helping. Helping to cool the earth. Because, even though aviation industry is loosing over $200m already, CO2 emission has gone down, thanks to cancelled flights.
So the gods are angry or the plates slipped, whichever way you want to think about it, for better, not for worse. 
It is just a reminder, that something greater than humans still exists, whatever you want to call it, be you a believer, or an atheist.
