WSO2 Carbon 3.2.0 - Ongoing Evolution

It has been more than two years since Paul first blogged about WSO2 Carbon.

And this week, after about two and half years, we have the latest version of WSO2 Carbon released, version 3.2.0.

In February, 2009, we only released four products with WSO2 Carbon.

This time, in June, 2011, we are releasing 12 products with WSO2 Carbon 3.2.0.

Yes, in about two years, we have not only Carbonized all products we had prior to the introduction of Carbon platform, but also we have doubled the number of products. Meaning, we have added 6 new products to our SOA middleware platform, within just two years.

It is the combination of factors that made all these possible.
  • The vision towards a lean but powerful architecture, lead by Paul and Sanjiva
  • The successful design and implementation of the envisioned architecture
  • An amazing team, that worked tireless, driven by passion and commitment
  • Apache like process, agile and unique to WSO2
The beauty of this evolution is that, while we have added many components and functional elements to the architecture, we have remained as lean as ever and as performing and efficient as ever.

This release also includes many enhancements, based on multiple years of experiences we have had with our clients, running WSO2 Carbon based platforms.
Hardened and battle tested with more than a billion of transactions a day, WSO2 Carbon platform continues to evolve, satisfying the enterprise aspirations and revolutionizing the middleware space.

By end of June, we will have StratosLive, the latest cloud platform, based on this release of WSO2 Carbon.
BTW, not only we mastered Java OSGi space to realize the most powerful on-premise product platform, we also designed and where necessary refactored the product platform to make it cloud ready.
